Partners in Collaboration

Group of Four in Meeting Partnerships are critical in providing services to Michigan youth. Partnerships play a key role in systems change. MiConnections is designed around partnerships at the state, regional and local levels. It brings together a number of state-level agencies and organizations to change the way schools and communities prepare youth with disabilities for higher education, career training, and employment.

It also reflects the intent of the grant award that the MiConnections model is integrated into other youth workforce development services and sustained through state-level management and coordination.

At the state level, three partners with a long and close working relationship have the primary responsibility for implementing MiConnections: Michigan Rehabilitation Services and the Michigan Commission for the Blind, both in the Michigan Deptartment of Labor & Economic Growth, and the Office of Special Education and Early Intervention Services/Michigan Department of Education. Representatives from a number of state agencies and state and local organizations have entered into a coalition to support the MiConnections initiative
