Project Goals and Eligibility

The overall goals of MiConnections are:

  • To increase high school graduation rates
  • To increase enrollment in training programs and college
  • To improve employment outcomes … of youth with disabilities

This will be accomplished by increasing access by youth with disabilities to skills training, employment opportunities and exposure to careers in high demand and in high tech fields.

Our Vision

A network of community-based and community-owned initiatives that spark an interest in youth with disabilities:

  • To explore technology-related fields 
  • To raise their expectations for further learning
  • To attain high employment goals

MiConnections is developed, implemented and sustained through broad partnerships that include youth.

Partners focus on coordinating, enhancing and increasing services and resources to improve educational, training and employment outcomes for youth.

Eligibility Info

Who Can Participate?

An eligible youth:

  • Is between the ages of 14 and 22 at enrollment in MiConnections
  • Has a disability
  • Has an interest in exploring technology-related jobs or careers
  • Has the potential to pursue employment and/or postsecondary education or training
  • Is serious about learning and working hard, and agrees to participate to the best of his/her ability
  • Is willing to participate for at least 2 years
  • Is able to obtain work identification
